For days, full of play and pleasure, we would tumble around the nursery,
scraping our knees.

But one by one they abandoned me
marched off to inherit the Real World,
clutching cardboard swords.

Fed up with mourning, I took chase,
Pursued them for a decade,
And found them at last,

On the other side
of a great divide.

I ripped off my nightgown in a bid for their attention

But they regarded me
